In conjunction with obtaining clearances, we also are experts in understanding and interpreting the AAR Open Top Loading Rules. All railroads in the U.S., Mexico and Canada adhere to the AAR rules. Any loading of cargo onto rail cars is required to be in compliance with the rules. In the event a customer loads a car and it is not in compliance with the rules, the car will not be allowed to move on the railroad- it will be rejected.

Oftentimes, there are multiple acceptable ways to load cargo onto rail cars and remain within rules compliance. When there is no specific rule addressing a particular commodity (like wind components), the general rules must be applied to the loading pattern. We can determine how to properly load your cargo, meet the required loading provisions, provide you with a list of acceptable, approved materials for lashing and, ensure the loaded rail cars pass inspection.
